Shani Wendell

Director

Jazz · Tap · Lyrical · Pre-school

Shani has been teaching dance in the Okanagan Valley since 1993, and she opened LCSD in 2000. She is an award-winning instructor & choreographer, an adjudicator, a member of the Canadian Dance Teacher's Association, and also a certified Stott Pilates instructor. She has choreographed and produced dozens of stage shows including "Cats," "Grease" and " Chicago " with the Full Moon Theatre Company.

She was awarded the 'Young Entrepreneur of the Year' twice from the Lake Country Chamber of Commerce and the YM/YWCA's 'Young Woman of Distinction Award' in 2004. She is active in the community as a member of the Rotary Club of Lake Country and the Lake Country Chamber of Commerce. Shani was also a 2007/2008 ambassador and model for the clothing store, Lululemon.

 

 

Salena Lamb

Gymnastics · Pilates · Acro · Pre-school

Salena Lamb has been coaching gymnastics, acro and teaching early dance since 1998, working with the Kokanee Gymnastics Club, the Lake Country Gymnastics Club and LCSD. Qualified and experienced, Salena enjoys working with children to develop both their social and motor skills through gymnastics and dance.

Sal has also been actively involved with Pilates for more than seven years, and is certified to instruct in Mat, Reformer, and Chair. Sal has and continues to instruct Pilates at a number of Central Okanagan centers, including Rutland Physiotherapy and at LCSD.

 

 

Loretta Lachner

Ballet

Loretta received her teacher's training in London , England at the College of the Royal Academy of Dance, where she graduated with a diploma in the Teaching of Dance, as well as becoming a Licentiate of the Royal Academy of Dance: an honor only given to those who graduate from the Academy in London . Upon graduation, she taught in London for a year and then moved to Edmonton where she taught for 11 years as the Ballet Director of Castle Downs School of Dance. Loretta had the opportunity to travel twice to St. Petersburg , Russia to study in the Russian Vaganova ballet technique, a method in which such famous dancers as Nureyev and Baryshnikov were trained. In 1995, Loretta moved to Kelowna , and since then she has taught at several different studios and today continues to teach and adjudicate throughout BC, Alberta , Saskatchewan , and the US .

 

 

Vicki View

Jazz · Lyrical · Tap · Hiphop · Ballet

Vicki was born and raised in Saskatchewan. She is a versatile dancer, teacher, and choreographer in wide range of genres including Jazz, Lyrical, Tap, Hip Hop, Ballet, Pointe, and Musical Theatre. She expanded her training while studying at the Edge Performing Arts Center and Millennium Dance Complex in L.A., the Source Dance Company and Ruckus Dance Productions of Vancouver as well as the Randolph Academy for the Performing Arts in Toronto. Alongside her training, she has worked with Groove Street Productions and Triple Threat Dance Convention as a demonstrator and assistant for their Canadian Tour.

She has worked extensively in film and television. Some of her credits include: Rivella, Lil' Romeo, Kyle XY, and Disney Productions. Vicki travelled throughout Europe, Asia, and South America performing with notable companies such as the Canadian Forces Show Tour, Norwegian Cruise Lines, and Lamondance. While being a performer, Vicki has been teaching and choreographing for 12 years within Canada and internationally where her choreography has received award recognition. In addition, she is also a choreographer and adjudicator for the International Dance Seminar of Brasilia and the National Dance Championships of Canada.

Vicki continues to expand her knowledge and to grow as an artist by consistently studying and exploring the most current and up to date styles of dance. She is absolutely thrilled to be able share her knowledge and passion for dance with all of her students. 

 


 

Kristina Moyor

Tap · Hip-hop · Modern

Kristina was born and raised in Calgary where she trained with Invitation to Dance for several years studying jazz, modern, tap, ballet, acrobatics and hip Hop. Kristina completed all of her major exams with honours in Al Gilbert tap and ISTD Modern and had the opportunity to train with many world-renowned teachers at workshops and conventions.

Working with students of all ages Kristina taught and became a faculty member at Invitation to Dance (ITD) where she was the co-creator of the Musical Theatre program. Following her stay at ITD she moved to Lethbridge , AB to finish her Bachelor of Arts in fine arts at the University of Lethbridge . In 2008 she became involved with the Lethbridge Musical Theatre, performing in productions such as Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.

 

 

Angie Heppner

Tap · Jazz

Angie, a new resident of Lake Country , has been teaching jazz and tap to adults in the Central Okanagan for the past 20 years. Highlights of her dancing career include dancing on a Canadian team at Expo in Australia and choreographing for Kelowna 's Lady of the Lake pageant. Angie's students love her high energy, creative teaching style, and her unique, inspired choreography.

 

 

Deanne Collinson

Musical Theatre

Deanne has been an educator for the past six years and a performer, stage manager and director for the past fifteen. Her Musical Theatre experience stems from her involvement in both professional opera and theatre in Canada, and she has worked with various large companies, such as Vancouver Opera, The Stratford Festival, Pacific Opera Victoria, Theatre Calgary and Alberta Theatre Projects. She spends most of her time now in high schools, teaching drama and musical theatre, and she was last seen as "Lucy" in Theatre Kelowna Production of You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown. Deanne was also the director of the 2005 & 2006 productions of LCSD's "The Grinch."

Sarah Christine Smith

Jazz · Lyrical · Hip-hop

After completing a year scholarship at the world-renowned dance studio, EDGE Performing Arts in Los Angeles . Sarah kick off her dance career in a small but memorable role in Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery. From there she worked on other movies such as the next 2 Austin Powers, She's All That, Scream 2, Not Another Teen Movie, Orange County, Like Mike, Down With Love, Click and more recently Year One, Spring Breakdown and Johnny Depp's upcoming animated film Rango. She's worked on the TV shows "The O.C.", "THe Suite Life of Zack and Cody", "That 70's Show", "Cold Case", "Drake and Josh", "What About Brian" and "CSI:NY". She's traveled the world with artists Paul McCartney, toured with Britney Spears and worked with artists such as Carrie Underwood, Justin Timberlake, Lenny Kravitz and Daniel Powter. Throughout her career she's also found the time to teach and choreograph and has traveled across the US with companies such as LADF , LA Dance Magic and Showstoppers. Dance is her passion and she loves to share that with her students.

 
 

Josh Beamish

Josh Beamish, Artistic Director of MOVE: the company, began dancing under the direction of his mother Loretta Lachner in Edmonton , Alberta and Kelowna , BC . Upon moving to Vancouver , Josh continued his training at Pacific DanceArts, and began his career as an assistant choreographer, dance captain or dancer on various feature films and television shows including "The Wicker Man" with Nicholas Cage, "The Cleaner" and "Totally Awesome" with choreographer Paul Becker and the Nickelodeon network's "Spectacular". Josh was also one of the choreographers involved in the Steve Rosenberg's film "Divine Waters" for Bravo!FACT. As a performer he has been seen in the works of Vancouver-based choreographers David Raymond, Amber Funk Barton and Simone Orlando. Outside of MOVE: the company, his works have recently been performed by Toronto Dance Theatre, Halifax Dance, Ballet Kelowna, Dance Saskatchewan, the Universities of Alberta and Missouri, Ballet Jorgen, the Bellingham Repertory Company and Wylliams/Henry Contemporary Dance in Kansas City. He is the 2009 recipient of a City of Vancouver Mayor 's Arts Award, a 2008 Globe and Mail Dance Award and of artistic residencies at the Scotiabank Dance Centre, the Shadbolt Centre, the Norman Rothstein and Clarke Theatres, the University of Alberta and the Banff Centre. Josh recently participated in a choreographic session facilitated by the New York Choreographic Institute, involving the students of the School of American Ballet (New York City Ballet).

 

 

Sam Crossley

Sam has been dancing in the Kelowna area for over eight years. Over those years, she has earned a number of scholarships including dancing at the EDGE Performing Arts Centre in Los Angeles , L.A. Dance Force, The Vibe, Rocky Mountain Dance Project as well as many cash scholarships. In 2008, she auditioned for and became part of Moveo Performing Company in Portland , Oregon . During her time with the company, she was able to travel and perform around the U.S. in pieces such as Monsters of Hip Hop, Mosaic (an international showcase), Whitman Colleges Best Dance Crew, All That Jazz Dance Studio 20th Anniversary show, where she performed with world class instructors such as Jillian Meyers, Wes Veldink and Scott Hislop. In December 2008, she landed a lead role in the professional production of "The Perfect Christmas". While she lived in Portland , she trained at one of the top 50 studios in the U.S. and had the opportunity to train under the direction of Wade Robson, Twitch, Laurieann Gibson, Shane Sparks, Sonya Tayeh, Tyce Diorio, Napoleon and Tabitha, Luther Brown, Brian Friedman and Mr. Wiggles. Aside from performing, Sam has most recently choreographed for the award winning Canadian artist, Zane Gold, for the B.C. Interior Music awards. She has also worked with Pageants, Dance Teams, and teachers throughout the Okanagan for School District 23. In Sam's years of teaching she has received many choreography awards in Hip Hop, Jazz, Lyrical and Musical Theatre at different competitions and festivals. Sam loves performing, teaching and choreographing and continues to train in all forms of dance.

 

 

Christie Saunders

Christie grew up in Vancouver where she trained in ballet, jazz, tap, modern, lyrical, musical theatre, street dance and hip-hop. Throughout her years as a professional dancer Christie has worked for organizations in Canada , the United States , France , UK , Sweden , Turkey , and Germany . Some of her credits include: Jean Ann Ryan Productions, Norwegian Cruise Lines and the CFL's BC Lions. Christie currently lives in London , UK where she participates in numerous live shows in addition to dancing, acting and choreographing in London 's thriving Film and Television Industry. Some of her film credits include: Mamma Mia, Catwoman, Smallville, Paul O Grady, Fitness First, Maximuscle, Volvo, Marks and Spencers, Loreal, Toyota , Adventis, Life as we Know it, Lysol, Hasbro, Woolite, Nokia, Mattel, and Nissan. Christie also danced at the Moulin Rouge in Paris. In addition to dancing professionally Christie is also a well respected teacher and choreographer.

 

 

Chelsea Beamish

Chelsea has been dancing since 1992 years and teaching since 2003. She has competed in numerous festivals and dance competitions throughout B.C. as well as being accepted three times to The BC Provincials of the Performing Arts in Stage, Ballet, and Modern. At the age of 15, she became director of MOVE Youth Dance Company as well as being a performer, managing shows and competitions throughout B.C. At 17, Chelsea was accepted into The Source Dance Company based in Vancouver , where she performed in B.C. and the U.S. as well as various promotional work including Lululemon's World Yoga Day. Chelsea has taught and choreographed for schools in Vancouver, Coquitlam, Trail, Port Moody, Victoria, Kelowna, and of course, Lake Country. Currently, Chelsea resides in Victoria after graduating from the Canadian College of Performing Arts but is blessed to still be a guest teacher at Lake Country School of Dance.
